HERO Educators

The HERO programme prides itself on employing professional riders to educate our horses and give them the best start to their life after racing journey. We currently have five educators- three in Canterbury and two in Southland.

Tarryn Jones - Canterbury

  • Tarryn has grown up amongst the Harness Racing Industry with a strong family background in the game.
  • Tarryn is an extremely successful and professional equestrian rider. She regularly competes in a range of disciplines including eventing, dressage, and showjumping.
  • Tarryn is competing at 2* ESNZ level eventing and up to 1.20m SJ with excellent results.
  • Tarryn has her own full time equestrian schooling business.


Chanelle Dickie - Canterbury

  • Chanelle has previously worked full time at Bromac Lodge
  • Chanelle has had some fantastic results with her off the track Standardbreds. Highlights include winning the Standardbred Horse of the Year title on a horse she broke in and educated herself.
  • Chanelle has an impressive record at the Canterbury A & P Show having won 5x Champion Ridden Standardbred titles.
  • Chanelle has been making a name for herself Barrel Racing on the rodeo circuit and this year has made the National Finals where she is currently sitting 5th in the country.

Anna Bryant - Canterbury

  • Anna is based on a 140ha farm in Methven. She has been riding professionally since she left school and has worked in Australia, England and Ireland in eventing, dressage and show jumping yards
  • Anna runs her owns equine business schooling horses, selling on behalf, breaking in and coaching. Anna has had great success competing across a range of disciplines. Anna is a 3* eventer and a regular on the show jumping and showing scene.
  • Anna is an extremely accomplished rider who we are very lucky to have on board.

Monique Koch - Southland

  • Monique runs her own equine business- Balance Equestrian Ltd schooling and coaching a variety of riders.
  • Monique is a keen dressage rider with a passion for horsemans hip and problem solving.
  • Monique has owned and retrained many ex-racehorses. She loves working with horses at liberty and prides herself on producing safe and sensible allrounders.
  • Monique grew up in the UK and first learnt to ride on wild native ponies.

Hannah Keetly - Southland

  • Hannah is a local Southland rider that competes in a variety of disciplines.
  • Hannah has worked with multiple young and challenging horses.
  • Hannah has previously rehomed many standardbreds off the track.
  • Hannah's focus is always a happy well-rounded horse with as much variety in their day to day life as possible.
