Harness 7000 now the Foundations Pace

The race previously known as the Woodlands Stud Sires' Stakes Harness 7000 has had a makeover.
 
It is now the Woodlands Stud Sires' Stakes Foundations Pace, a 3YO Listed race worth $50,000, and will be held at Addington Raceway on Friday, September 11.

The race is limited to horses sired by stallions with a service fee of $7000 or less, and is open only to Sires' Stakes graduates and excludes previous Group 1 winners or horses with lifetime stakes of $100,000 or more.

It has been held since 2015, with Berrettini winning last year's race and Bronson (pictured above) in 2024. 

"The race is essentially the same as before but we have rebranded to avoid confusion with the Harness 5000 series," says Sires' Stakes Chief Executive Martin Pierson.

The first Harness 5000 was held at Ashburton last year, with the second edition on this December.

"With the high calibre of stallions eligible we know there are quality pacers being aimed at the race and we are excited to see who lines up next month," says Pierson.

"It's always keenly-contested."
