Big numbers for Derby and Oaks

A total of 58 horses have been nominated for the New Zealand Pacing Derby and the New Zealand Pacing Oaks at Addington on Sunday, December 4.

The two three-year-old pacing features are a key part of the new Harness Grand Prix 2022, which will see eight Group 1s raced on the one day.

Included in the 28 nominations for the Oaks is the well-performed Kiwi-bred but Australian-based Amore Vita, who has won 11 from 21. She was exported to Australia a year ago after having three starts (including one win) for co-breeder, part-owner and trainer Steve Dolan.

The talent on this side of the Tasman is undoubted though, spearheaded by star filly Aardie's Express, who's won eight from nine, and the Mark Purdon and Hayden Cullen-trained pair of True Fantasy and Queen Of Diamonds.

Purdon and Cullen's All Star barn also dominates the nominations for the New Zealand Derby. Their firepower includes Akuta, Franco Mac, Franco Indie and Bollinger.

A total of 30 horses have been nominated for the Derby with Robert and Jenna Dunn also having a strong hand, with El Chico, Bach and Magic Four.

Updated fixed odds on the two features will be released by the TAB in the near future.

Here are the conditions for these two races
