Majestic Cruiser is all go for NZ Cup
Star Aussie stayer Majestic Cruiser’s NZ Cup raid is all go.
Trainer Jason Grimson was buoyed by his standing-start trial at Menangle on Tuesday and has booked a flight from Sydney to Auckland on October 31.
“It works well. He’ll run first-up next Saturday night at Menangle, back-up in the (Group 1) Len Smith the week after and then there’s a flight to Auckland the Monday after,” Grimson said.
“The best part is, there’s then a charter flight from Auckland with some gallopers so he won’t have to go by road and boat.”
Grimson has been itching to get back to NZ since Majestic Cruiser upset NZ’s best pacers to win the Group 1 Messenger at Alexandra Park in April.
