Williamson with handy book at Addington tonight

Matthew Williamson hopes Song Sung Blue can frank his strong southern form at Addington on Friday night.

The Ashburton pacer will race closer to home after three excellent performances in Southland in recent weeks.

Williamson knows both the Canterbury and Southland racing scenes better than most and can’t see why Song Sung Blue’s form wouldn’t stack up.

“He’s been racing great down south and in a similar grade on Friday night he should be a nice chance.”

“His last run down there was great, he did a bit of work and only got caught very late.”

“He’s drawn out a bit this week, but all in all he looks a good each way chance.”

The David Mitchell-trained Song Sung Blue ($4.60)  is among a handy book of drives Williamson links up with on Friday night.

Sunsoutgunsout looks another strong winning threat for trainer Steven Reid.

“I haven’t driven him before but it is good to get on because he looked a nice horse last prep.”

“He hasn’t trialled or anything but you know Reidman will have him forward and ready to go a nice race.”

Williamson will start two horses from his own stable at Addington including the very consistent Jordan Anne.

“She’s very honest and the 2000m stand suits here, she’s a top 3 chance.”

Wendy Moon will have her second start in Williamson’s colours after a debut fourth at Addington.

The trainer-driver is hoping for more on Friday night.

“Her fourth was just OK, she’s better than that and she looks a place chance in a handy maiden field.”

Williamson will combine with Southland trotter Bring On The Muscle, who heads north to resume.

The Clark Barron-trained square-gaiter faces a daunting handicap of 45m.

“He’s a nice horse and I am sure he will go a good race, but it is going to be hard for him off that handicap.”

“Hopefully he gets a bit of luck somewhere, if they run along up front he is going to have to run a very fast time to be in it.”

Bring On The Muscle is part of a bigger than usual southern contingent heading to Addington on Friday night.

Nathan Williamson takes the unbeaten Parytime and Utah Jazz north and Tony Stratford has Rakamurph and Mr President entered.
