What Alert level 2 means for racing

The Government’s latest announcement means all harness racing meetings and trials will be held at their own racecourses this week.

From midnight tomorrow the whole of the country, apart from Auckland, will be at “Delta” Alert Level 2, with Auckland remaining at Alert Level 4 for at least another week.

Under Alert Level 2 Waikato will race at Cambridge on Thursday, as will Wyndham at Wyndham, with Addington on Friday night and Methven racing at the Mt Harding racecourse on Sunday.

Masks, scanning in and social distancing will be compulsory as per the usual Covid protocols.

Just who will be allowed on-course during “Delta” Alert Level 2 is still being decided, with an update on that expected tomorrow.

We will update any developments when they become available.

HRNZ thanks everyone for their understanding during these times, especially those in Auckland who are remaining in lockdown.

We would also like to remind everyone about the importance of getting vaccinated.
