Tour Party heads Dalgety team at Addington tonight

By Michael Guerin

One leg of Carter Dalgety’s age group treble at Addington tonight looks relatively simple but the young driving star might need to work some magic in the other two.

Dalgety has drives for his parents Cran and Chrissie in all three of the talent-filled races for youngsters tonight and will carry plenty of multi bets when he scores up with Tour Party (R8, No.4) in the Woodlands Stud Sires’ Stakes heat.

Tour Party was beaten for the first time when outsprinted by Faith Not Fear two starts ago, a case of the winner being very good and Tour Party also being a touch underdone.

“He showed improvement after that when he won at Oamaru next time out and he has improved again,” says Dalgety.

“His work on Wednesday was very, very good so he is spot on for this Friday.”

Even though Tour Party is drawn one spot outside a very good rival in Chiggsy with so many major races coming up for the juvenile boys it is hard to imagine them going to war so Tour Party’s punters might be in for a comfortable watch.

Dalgety admits things won’t be quite so simple in the fillies races for both two and three-year-olds.

He partners Suva Baby (R7, No.13) in the Dunstan Sires’ Stakes heat for the juvenile girls and says the second line draw doesn’t bother him in a race where the Cullen pair of I’m The Boss (1) and Wat Fun (2) dominate the market.

“My filly is way better as a follower at this stage of her career and it could be a really hard race to win working any way,” he explains.

“So I’d love to get the back of a filly like Nella Keenan and try to get a nice tow home.”

The Dalgetys have four fillies in the Nevele R heat and Carter will partner Cherish Me (R9, No.8) instead of Lizzie Borden, Show Stopper or All Of Me.

“There isn’t that much between ours as they are all really nice fillies but Cherish Me was good chasing home a proven older horse last week in Borrisokane so she has to be hard to beat.

“But it is a really good field and she is short enough when you look at the form of a horse like Cath (9).

“And I actually think Lizzie Borden was good last start too so that race looks tricky.”

Dalgety will also partner talented three-year-old pacer Treacherous Dreams in Race 4 and he is undoubtedly a horse going places but finds himself in against some tough older horses, headed by Borrisokane so he might need to reach a new peak to keep on winning.
