The battle of the 2YO Fillies at Addington

By Dave Di Somma, Harness News Desk

For Bronson Munro Friday's Dunstan Sires' Stakes 2YO Fillies Series (Heat 3) at Addington is a real head-scratcher.

The on-farm trainer at Robert Famularo's Dancingonmoonlight stables, Munro will line up three fillies in the $30,000 Heat  - Eternal Perfection, Jorja and Validation. All three are fresh up this campaign.

"I've never had three to the races before let alone three in the one race," he laughs.

The trio finished first, second and third at the Rangiora trials on September 24.

Eternal Perfection, who is making his southern debut after having one win from four starts for Tony Shaw and James Stephens, led the trial throughout with Jorga a fast-finishing second and Validation third.

Jorja is having just her second raceday appearance, following a second on debut to race rival Nella Keenan in the Group 3 Helen Pope Memorial at Ashburton in May while Validation won once for Munro's predecessor at Dancingonmoonlight Ross Houghton.

Co-incidentally all three Munro-trained runners have drawn alongside each other on Friday night.

They have the highly-fancied Hayden and Amanda Cullen-trained stablemates I'm The Boss and Wat Fun inside them, and Nathan Purdon's Lady Di and Beware The Storm directly to their outside.

"It's pretty hard case - that," says Munro.

The Cullen runners are both last start winners, with I'm The Boss a $2.45 top pick, just ahead of Wat Fun ($2.90).

Munro is loathe to favour one of his stablemates over the others but does add : "If Jorja gets handy she is incredibly fast."

"She ran home in 54.7 in that trial."

Nella Keenan has been backed in this week from her opening price of $10 as has the  Dalgetys' Suva Baby.

"No-one's got any idea of the pecking order among these 2YO Fillies - we will all know a lot more after Friday," says Munro.

Heat 4 of the Series will be held at Ashburton on October 26, with the $200,000 Group 1 final on Show Day at Addington on November 13.

Munro will also line up in-form 3YO filly Easton Doll on Friday night in Race 6, the VIP Trade Mobile (7.43pm).

She's had two wins and three seconds from five starts so far with Munro eyeing up big targets later in the season.

"We might drive her in the field (on Friday), it's her first time over 2600 (metres) and it will be a good tester for races like the New Zealand Oaks."

She opened a $2.80 second favourite behind the Robert and Jenna Dunn-trained Captain Tyron.
