Self Assured wins, but only just
New Zealand Cup favourite Self Assured has won today’s Group Two NZB Airfreight Ashburton Flying Stakes, but only just.
The hottest of favourites went to the lead and looked to have the race at his mercy before Classie Brigade, who was in the trail throughout, mounted a stern challenge.
It looked like Classie Brigade momentarily took the lead before Self Assured rallied again to make it win number 19 from 31 starts.
Self Assured paid $1.50 and $1.
The time was 2:56.77.
