Nominations open for the NZSBA Board
NZSBA (New Zealand Standardbred Breeders' Association) is entering a new chapter. Following recently approved rule changes, every position on the NZSBA Board is now open and will be filled through a new, skills-based appointment process.
A Board Appointment Panel will assess all applicants against a Board Skills and Competency Matrix, appoint one representative from each Affiliate (Southern, Canterbury and North Island), and put forward two or three candidates for members to elect. The goal is a Board that together covers the full range of skills, experience and connections that good governance needs.
We are keen to hear from people who bring strategic thinking, financial literacy, hands-on knowledge of Standardbred breeding and harness racing, strong networks, governance experience, or sound judgement and a willingness to contribute. You do not need to tick every box. The Panel is building a balanced team from complementary strengths.
All NZSBA members have been emailed directly today with the full details and application documents.
We are also keen to hear from interested people beyond our membership. A number of these roles are open to non-members, and we welcome applications from anyone who believes they can contribute and brings the skills and experience we are looking for. If that sounds like you, we would be glad to hear from you.
How to apply
There are two ways to apply.
Apply online: complete the digital application form by clicking here! Once you submit it, you will be emailed a short skills matrix self-assessment to complete and return. The two together make up your application.
Apply on paper: if you would prefer a physical application pack, contact Brad Reid at brad@thebreeders.co.nz and one will be sent to you to complete and return.
