Kaikoura’s big day(s)
It’s Marlborough anniversary weekend and that means one thing – the annual races at Kaikoura.
The ever popular South Bay racecourse will host six races on Sunday before the Kaikoura Cup meeting on Monday.
It usually attracts thousands of visitors from all over the South island and to get an insight in what it’s all about we spoke with current Kaikoura Club president Ben Smith. His family has lived in the area for a hundred years and they also bred the all-conquering trotter that was Lyell Creek.
The first race on Sunday starts at 2.47pm, with Monday’s racing getting underway at 12.17pm.
