Harrys late push for an AYDC spot
by Brittany Graham
Harrison Orange has two and a half weeks to claw his way into a second opportunity to represent his Country when the Australasian Young Drivers Championship is hosted in his homeland come November.
With the North Island spot afforded to the leading junior driver in that region come September 27, Crystal Hackett presently holds a seven-win lead after a particularly strong Winter surge.
But Orange spent a few weeks honing his skills in Australia, and could make a late challenge, principally with a very strong selection of drives tomorrow night at Alexandra Park.
The evening starts with his engagement aboard regular steer and quirky customer Muchacho in race 2 for the junior drivers.
“He should be going close in this – he has been pacing good as of late and will be better on the front end” mentioned Harry when previewing his entire book.
Beautifully bred three-year-old No More Dreaming was able to break his maiden last start and now looks to string two together in race five at 6.45pm.
“Hoping he has gained some confidence from that win so will be looking to sit on a helmet and hit the line strong”.
Jessie Lincoln is the most experienced maiden in the TAB Mobile Pace at the halfway point of the card but may give cheek at a price according to Orange’s assessment of last weeks run.
“She ran home great when fresh up”
“She can be in the money if she performs similar and lands a good spot”
War Party is starting to build quite the reputation and will look to take another step in a deep R41-54 contest as race 6.
“He has been showing plenty of ability and racing great - I am confident he can take another step up this week”
And finally, Fly High wraps up Harrisons drives in the $30,000 Nevele R Fillies Series Heat when she returns after a last start atrial fibrillation.
“She has had a freshen up since last start but has come back great and is ready to run a nice race”.
