Woodend gears up for Cup week
By Dave Di Somma, Harness News Desk
With its kilometres of coastline, Woodend beach is tailor-made for training horses, and it’s a hub for a host of top trainers including the Dunns, the Hopes, and the Butts.
In Tuesday’s New Zealand Cup four Woodend-based horses will get a start in the country’s biggest race – former champion Thefixer for Regan Todd, and Classie Brigade, Heisenberg and Henry Hubert for Robert and John Dunn.
So HRNZ headed off to North Canterbury to find out more about the beach and the regulars who take their horses there literally nearly every day.
