Trot Slot confirmed for Cambridge's Night of Champions
Cambridge Raceway and Harness Racing New Zealand are pleased to confirm the Trot Slot will be part of the Night of Champions on Friday, April 10.
It will be the third edition of the race, following Just Believe's victory in 2024 and fellow Australian Arcee Phoenix last year.
Following the extension of the deadline for slot-holders to secure their participation last month, it has now been decided the race will go ahead with seven starters.
"We are delighted to finally be in a position where we can confirm the Trot Slot is going ahead," says Cambridge Raceway's General Manager Nick Blundell, "and while numbers are down on what we had hoped we are confident we will line up a very competitive field of trotters from both sides of the Tasman."
The Trot Slot will be worth $530,000 and is part of a stellar card that also features the $1m The Race. It will have a capacity 10-horse field after slots were snapped up quickly last December.
The Trot Slot slot-holders are :
Mark Purdon/Chris Ryder
Rampant Pty Ltd
Cullen Breeding Ltd
Yabby Dam Farms
Keayang Farms
Levarg Racing
Ross Patrick
The horses that will take up the slots will be confirmed in the next week or so, with the TAB having Keayang Zahara a $1.30 favourite, ahead of stablemate Jilliby Ballerini, and Gus, both at $7.50.
A live Box Seat show, including the Night of Champions Barrier Draws, will be broadcast on Trackside three days before the big meeting, on Tuesday April 7 from 7.30-9.00pm.
