Trial to be extended at Addington
The "front line limit" trial at Addington Raceway is to be extended for another fortnight or so.
From June 1, 2025 the front line limit in 2600 metre standing start races at Addington has been reduced from 10 to nine on a trial basis.
The initiative was set up to see if it improved crowding at the 2600m starting point.
The trial was due to finish today but it's been decided the trial will now continue until August 17 so Harness Racing New Zealand and the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club (Addington) can fully consult with key stake-holders on the change.
A decision will then be made on whether the change will be made permanent.
Anyone wishing to contribute to the discussion is welcome to make their submissions to HRNZ's Head of Racing and Wagering Matthew Peden by 5pm, Friday August 8.
