Tomlinson with strong book of drives at Rangiora

By Jonny Turner

Sheree Tomlinson has one of the leading contenders in the Team Teal Challenge among her strong book of drives at Rangiora on Saturday.

Tomlinson teams up with the Bob Butt trained Brando in the teal event.

The pacer impressed in two starts at Nelson recently when winning and running second.

“I was lucky enough that Bob asked me to drive him a couple of weeks ago.”

“He went some good races at Nelson, hopefully he can step away and I think he’ll definitely be competitive.”

Tomlinson also reunites with Paige who will be looking to find her manners again after making an error in her last start.

“She probably got a wee bit worked up at the start last time.”

“It is not really like her either, we were probably walking around a wee bit too much and she got a wee bit excited.”

“It is probably not ideal drawing 1 with her manners last week, but if she steps and if she is handy, I think she will go a good race.”

“Even though she galloped away last week, she still finished right in behind them.”

Tomlinson also gets back behind another Bruce Negus trained trotter in Buffy Northstains.

The big striding mare was unlucky when held up late at Methven last week.

“She was really stiff at Methven last week.”

“The running line didn’t open up at all for her, which is not like Methven.”

“She was sweating on a run at the line.”

“If she gets a run handy enough this week she will definitely go close.”

Classie Linc heads into race 6 for Tomlinson after hinting at a return to form with a last start fifth.

“She is a funny horse, we are trying to build her confidence back up.”

“I would’ve said 2 on the second row is a good draw for her, coming off the unruly.”

“We can take our time early and you will see her best work late.”

“Obviously she has got the ability to be winning that race, but her manners keep letting her down.”

“She is due to hit form again, it’s just when she wants to put it all together.”

Tomlinson also combines with Boxer who comes into race 4 fresh and Bono Brown who has copped a bad draw in race 3.
