The Merc, Ohoka Achilles and The Miki Taker lead the way in Cambridge Rewards series

A total of 15 horses have already met the qualifying standard for the inaugural Cambridge Rewards races that will be held on October 29.

The series started on September 10 with the latest being at Cambridge last night.

The final "heat" will be on October 22, with two Pacing and one Trotting Racing Rewards races to be held on October 29.

All three Rewards races will be worth $15,000.

Points will be accrued throughout the series with :

1st - 7 points
2nd - 5 points
3rd - 3 points 
4th - 2 points
All others - 1 point 

To be eligible for the Rewards a horse must have a minimum of three race starts across the seven race meetings from September 10 - October 22.

So far eight Pacers and seven Trotters have met that criteria with Ohoka Achilles and The Miki Taker leading the standings for the Pacers on 10 points while The Merc is the leading Trotter on 14 points, ahead of Brother Johnson.

A further nine Pacers and 18 Trotters have had two starts and need just one more to met the qualification criteria.
