Rangiora meeting a betting bonanza

Turnover for the last week’s harness racing meetings in this country totalled just under $5m.

Latest figures from the TAB show the six meetings, from Thursday through to Monday, showed a total of $4,962,100 –compared to last year’s total of $5,356,622.

A major factor in the fall was the abandonment of the second day at Hawera on Friday because of bad weather. That meeting has been rescheduled to February 23.

Of the meetings last week the Amberley Trotting Club’s meeting on the grass at Rangiora was a stand-out. The total turnover was $1,441,053.
