Muscle Mountain dominates tonight's Ordeal Cup
Hot favourite Muscle Mountain has sealed his place in the Dominion with an emphatic win in tonight's Renwick Farms Ordeal Cup at Addington.
Trained by Greg and Nina Hope, and driven by son Ben, Muscle Mountain started safely and got the perfect trip in the 2600 metre feature behind the pace-making Mataderos.
Turning for home it was a two horse race with Muscle Mountain peeling out and breezing past to win by more than two lengths, in a time of 3:15.3.
Mataderos held on for second, with Majestic Man third.
It's Muscle Mountain's 19th win in 31 starts. He paid just $1.60 for the win.
The victory means the five-year-old gelding is guaranteed a start in trotting's biggest race, the Dominion at Addington on Friday November 11, a race that's been dominated the past two years by arch-rival and reigning Horse of the Year Sundees Son.
