Minstrel favourite for Kurow Cup
After commanding form at the trials, the lightly raced Minstrel has been installed a short-priced favourite for this Sunday’s Kurow Cup at Oamaru.
The four-year-old son of Rocknroll Hanover is fresh up this campaign after impressing last season with three wins from seven starts. Among his three placings were a fast finishing third to Copy That in the Group 2 Vero Flying Stakes at Addington.
Trained by David and Catherine Butt and driven by their son Bob Minstrel has recently won trials at Rangiora and Ashburton in preparation for his 2020-21 season debut. In early markets he’s paying $2.20 to win, with his closest rivals expected to be the All Stars-trained Italian Lad, and Spirit of St Louis, who will start off 30 metres.
The Butts have high hopes for the horse in the future, saying he has the potential to take on the very best.
