Metro series back this Friday at Alexandra Park

After having March off, the ever popular Northern Metro series is back this month.

Alexandra Park will host five $15,000 heats this Friday night, three for the trotters (R35-38, R39-42 and R43-50) and two for the pacers (R35-42 and R44-50), ahead of two $30,000 Finals in a fortnight.

Many runners are backing up from Cambridge's Night of Champions including Bettor Reaction in the Hydroflow - Metro Pacers Heat 2 (5.56pm) after his upset win in the trans-Tasman Invitational Drivers race last Friday.

Bravehearthighlander is also back in Race 2, the H R Fisken and Sons - Metro Trotters Heat 1 (5.25pm). Last Friday he was second to Itmusclebelove in he Charlie Hunters Trotters Cup.

In each heat the first five Pacers and the first four Trotters home will automatically qualify for their $35,000 Finals at Alexandra Park on Friday, April 24, if nominated.

February's Metro Finals winners were Allamericanplayer and Higher Power.

More Metro Heats and Finals will be held throughout the year. They have been a regular and well-supported initiative in recent years to try and reinvigorate racing up north as part of The Future Starts Now strategy.
