Kapiti meeting to be held at Hawera
Following a track inspection at Otaki Racecourse it's been decided to move the Kapiti Harness Racing Club meeting to Hawera.
Concern had been raised about the condition of the track following a number of meetings at the venue. The most recent meeting on the track was today, Friday, January 9.
Representatives from Harness Racing New Zealand, the Racing Integrity Board (RIB), ÅŒtaki Racecourse, and the Kapiti Coast Harness Racing Club have since inspected the track with all parties agreeing it was not suitable to hold the harness meeting there scheduled for Thursday, January 15.
The meeting will now go ahead on the same day (January 15) at Hawera.
HRNZ accepts this will be an inconvenience for some and apologises for that but stresses that safety for all horses and participants is always the top priority.
The nomination process for the meeting at Hawera will remain the same as it was before the venue change.
