Jason Teaz's tips for Manawatu

Form Analyst Jason Teaz gives us a detailed look into Manawatu's meeting tonight (Thursday - April 1)

Race 1 @ 6.01pm

10 Somedreamsomewhere
1 Secret Dream
2 Big Skewy
3 It's A Laugh

SOMEDREAMSOMEWHERE is top pick here in this moderate lineup. Has been disappointing overall but the 2500 won't scare him and he does come out of the stronger maiden field and with many of his opposition going into the maiden series final he strikes the weakest opposition.
SECRET DREAM was beaten eleven lengths in a sprint home on Tuesday but has received barrier one and if she can stay handy should run one or two.
BIG SKEWY put in a much improved effort Tuesday, draw is nice and in this field gets his chance.
Stablemate IT'S A LAUGH has been a flop in the CD but again won't strike an easier field than this but patience is wearing thin with him.
MOP has gate speed and also comes out of the stronger maiden won by Khal Drogo on day one.
BARBAROSSA hadn't raced or trialed since November prior to Tuesday so should have improved but ran like a horse needing more racing.

Race 2 @ 6.31pm

6 Abadabadoo
7 Kristofferson
9 The Hulk
2 Mackali

ABADABADOO has done nothing wrong in both Manawatu runs. Second on Tuesday but sat parked on a good tempo. With no maidens in here he is only 10m behind so looks like the early leader.
KRISTOFFERSON didn't look like he handled the track here on Tuesday when confidently backed. Wears the half hopples which isn't ideal here. Give one more go in this lineup.
THE HULK returned to racing in blazing fashion on Tuesday. Won by six lengths but he does often struggle to put two big runs together. Giving the others 20m tonight too.
MACKALI is battling away lately. A hope with her manners that she sit in the trail or lead but needs a few favors.
THANK YOU is very talented but a hard horse to keep betting on. Checked early when the horse starting on his outside was standing side on in front of him at release. The smaller fields suits tonight and he is the blow out hope.

Race 3 @ 6.56pm

12 Khal Drogo
7 Needamargarita
10 Zircon Lass
6 Mr Perfect

KHAL DROGO is a big motored horse who dominated his rivals on Tuesday. Prior to that he was close up onthe coast circuit in stronger fields. The outside second row draw is a hindrance but he can loop them and beat them again.
NEEDAMARGARITA won her maiden here by six lengths, then was really good on day one. Barrier seven is a blow but has huge gate speed and can still get across. Big hope.
ZIRCON LASS is better than a one win horse too. Drew the outside of the second row on day one and in a race they pinged along in, couldn't reel them in. Draws no better today but she can still figure.
MR PERFECT got his win March 23 and then struggled as only a one win horse racing 2 to seven winners Tuesday. This is a massive drop back and has to be given an each way chance on his maiden wi n.
THE SPORTSMAN got a nice trip on Tuesday but they sprinted home in 28 off the front and it was hard for him to make ground wider out. A win chance.
CHRIS KYLE was surprisingly short on Tuesday. Manawatu was always going to test him as he's not a great gaited horse. Barrier one is a disaster for him.

Race 4 @ 7.21pm

2 Silver Lady
3 Peter Forsberg
6 Maya Angelou
4 Midnight In Memphis

SILVER LADY has no gate speed so the draw is irrelevant for her. Knocking on the door for a win in the CD. Can win.
PETER FORSBERG showed good fight when leading from barrier one and only getting passing laned late over the 2500m on Tuesday. Leads and is tough to beat again.
MAYA ANGELOU turned her form around with a three peg run on Tuesday. Drawn out today but can run top four the way she found the line for fourth.
MIDNIGHT IN MEMPHIS is a real one batter. Did more work than normal on Tuesday and in a blanket finish was only beaten two lengths. One of the leading hopefuls.
BUDVAR EYRE was another not beaten far in that race Tuesday won by The Blue Beat. Last two runs the back row draws haven't helped him.
SUPERSTAR LEGEND got found out on Tuesday when they just kept attacking her and she dropped her bundle. Probably should have stayed in the trail where she likes it. Drops back even further tonight so if she was ever to win again this could be it.

Race 5 @ 7.46pm

11 American Me
10 New York Minute
7 Superbass
4 The Kapiti Express

AMERICAN ME went his best race for some time on Tuesday when second in the Hawera cup. Draw is tricky again meaning he has to loop them but the 2500m suits more.
NEW YORK MINUTE is a sit swooper suited by the 2500m journey. Will look to track American Me into the race again tonight like he did Tuesday. Big each way.
SUPERBASS won his last and only two on the course. They were over the 2000m. 2500m will test him and he will need to be driven for a sit over the distance. Aided by carnage inside him on Tuesday. Still on his best can win again.
THE KAPITI EXPRESS broke a long losing sequence winning down a grade Tuesday. It was the fastest time of the night and he did work a bit during so his win had merit. He could lead tonight and if he does his chances are high.
BROOKIES JAFFA blew his chances on Tuesday by galloping early. Ran home in 56.9 and only ran ninth. Needs to hold up early to stay close but can blow them out as he is a country cup winner.
DIXIE REIGN may look to go forward early from the better draw tonight. She has been struggling but if she can trail, again she's a place chance.

Race 6 @ 8.11pm

2 Hopeing For Glory
9 Rough And Ready
4 Hezashadowplaya
6 Ace Strike

HOPEING FOR GLORY is sparingly raced with only one start in the last year. A big run for third on Tuesday and he looks a hope of trailing throughout here.
ROUGH AND READY seemed to struggle at times on the bends first up here Tuesday but stuck to his task well as the last quarter was the slowest. Another second row draw tonight but the increase in distance suits.
HEZASHADOWPLAYA dropped out late Tuesday but was savaged in front on two or three occasions. 2500m will test but look to him to have an easier time of it in front tonight.
ACE STRIKE drops out of the cup races. Been a little off his game however he has wn four races here, with three of those coming over the 2500m.
SCELTA UNO is a winner of seven and drops back from running in the Inangahua cup at Reefton two starts ago. Not disgraced on a wide run Tuesday.

Race 7 @ 8.40om

1 Rake
7 Smokin Annie
10 Nerano
11 Jungle Gem

RAKE hasn't had a decent draw in ages. Barrier one is his go as he sticks well. Shouldn't have to grip on from then parked position tonight.
Stablemate SMOKIN ANNIE is delivering on her early promise now. Not a flash bunch against her here so overcoming the wide draw is only concern.
NERANO was massive Tuesday. Sat three wide for the last 1200m on a hot speed and only just got outstayed. Draw hurts again and how much did that empty the fuel tank? Keep safe.
JUNGLE GEM keeps battling without troubling the scorers lately. Spotted raining on again on a 58 half Tuesday but place hopes look best.
ADIEU FLIRT blew it Tuesday by running around and turning her head close to the post Tuesday. Would have won. Two on the back row won't make it easy for her.

Race 8 @ 9.05pm

2 Maria Kirilenko
3 Golden Lace
4 Ticking Over
5 Carse O Fern Tom

MARIA KIRILENKO is a long time trier but she was close up on Tuesday in the blanket finish behind The Blue Beat. Drawn to lead for new driver Todd Mitchell.
GOLDEN LACE was one of not many finding the line in the Panspacifjet race on Tuesday night. It was the stronger of three races in these horses' form lines. Should stay handy. Her form is better than it looks.
TICKING OVER being a sit sprinter limits him. This is the closest he has drawn since placing in the feature pace here March 2. Can surprise.
CARSE O FERN TOM got into a bad spot on day one and they ran home in 58.5. They won't this time over the 2500m. He tries harder than most.
ZIP CODE did only beat maidens on Tuesday after walking and sprinting them but if the one horse can lead she is racing in fine fettle so can be thereabouts.
DOCTOR LOVE is one horse the distance is going to test him and he is extremely hard to follow.

Best Bet: Race 2 (6) Abadabadoo
Each Way Value: Race 8 (4) Ticking Over
