Jason Teaz's tips for Cambridge

Form analyst Jason Teaz gives a detailed insight into tonight's meeting at Cambridge.

Race 1

12 Pocket Book
9 Rocknroll Roulette
4 Fleeting Grin
2 Itsthefinalcountdown

POCKET BOOK gets a massive drop back here into this class. Latest runs have been on premier nights in Auckland. The draw hurts but still should be too good. Won her maiden here and placed on two other occasions.
ROCKNROLL ROULETTE also drops back from a Nevele R fillies heat and a R50-56 race here last week. Was slightly unlucky in that too. Trails a horse early who likes to race on speed so should get a decent crack.
FLEETING GRIN dropped another point last week to get into this field. He wasn't suited by leading there. He's a better grinder and remember he has won nine races and taking on largely one winner's. He's the bolter.
ITSTHEFINALCOUNTDOWN has moved stables in the last week to Jo Stevens and ably assisted by the Fergusons. They know how to improve one and even though this horse hasn't won in hus last 34 starts, he's drawn to place.
CAPTAIN NEMO got telfered last Friday at Auckland and dropped out. Returns to Cambridge tonight where this is his happy hunting ground.
THE PEACEMAKER has run three seconds in his last five starts. Should have won last time but just got outsprinted on the passing lane.
JIMMY RICHTER is sure to be used early to hold a prominent spot, but he has only been fair in weak company at Manawatu.

Race 2

5 The Last Gamble
4 Safrakova
3 Mackali
6 Tramps Like Us

THE LAST GAMBLE just went too hard in front last week. She set up 3:29 pace off the front and set the race up for the horse on her back. Should only need to trot like last week to smash these.
SAFRAKOVA was entitled to do better last Thursday when battling into fourth. A change of pilot tonight.
MACKALI has been a model of consistency and has been the benchmark at Manawatu since chasing home Majestic Harry February 11, who has since won again.
TRAMPS LIKE US has promised plenty in small doses in the north but trotted faultlessly when allowed his own rules in front March 4. Now they have him worked out he will continue to be consistent.
GREY STOKE was average last time but drops back even further tonight to the mid grade trot and needs to show some form.

Race 3

6 Allamericanlover
3 Commander Cathy
1 Lieutenant Arden
5 Slys Shadow

ALLAMERICANLOVER qualified impressively as an early three year old last August and after not carrying on with it was spelled. She has been dominant in her last two workout victories in quick time and showed great gate speed. Beat Lieutenant Arden in the most recent trial on March 6. Top pick.
COMMANDER CATHY was second in her first start at Cambridge last week, and was nearly fifteen lengths in front of the rest. Drawn to lead early and stay handy.
LIEUTENANT ARDEN was eased off the gate from barrier four at the Pukekohe workouts last Saturday. Qualified well enough but may need this race night's experience.
SLYS SHADOW hasn't raced in two and a half years. Had two trials in 2019 before another long spell. The three workouts she's had recently have been full of merit and could surprise by making first fours.
ROMEO SHARD is well bred but has copped a rough draw on debut and the trials this time in have just been fair.

Race 4

6 Presidential Jewel
4 Still Eyre
5 As Free As Air
7 Delson

PRESIDENTIAL JEWEL is going better than the form suggests. Fourth in the Cambridge cup off the back mark was excellent then was only beaten four lengths in the northern breeders last time. Only 20m behind and can trot 3:27. Should be hard to beat.
STILL EYRE won on premier night February 26 running them off their feet. Started off 15m last week in a stronger lineup and couldn't get near them. Second in the Cambridge cup four starts ago here.
AS FREE AS AIR is only 10m behind tonight and the way she is stepping she could be in or near lead throughout. A definite each way chance.
DELSON moves forward considerably tonight, starting only 20m behind. Dropped two more rating points last week. He isn't trotting well enough of late but gets his big chance to settle handy this time. D day.
IVEGOTBILLS won in easier company last week, this is not a huge step up though.
GRIFFINS HALL starts off the front for the first time in an age tonight. Close to winning again.

Race 5

4 Somedreamsomewhere
6 Wet Flipflops
10 He's A Facta
9 Shanlou

SOMEDREAMSOMEWHERE is a grand-daughter of the great Western Dream. Unbeaten in all three trials in Canterbury before coming north. Three nice workouts in Pukekohe and strikes a winnable race.
WET FLIPFLOPS didn't handle the right handed way and the stronger maiden company February 26. Had placed in both starts here at Cambridge prior. Won't be far away.
HE'S A FACTA produced a fine effort first time out on the unruly last week. He's green but has a big motor and will strip fitter tonight.
SHANLOU has been second in all three starts at Cambridge. They were from better draws though. One on the second row here is a disaster so place chances appear best.
IDEAL PRINCE has also gone well at Cambridge and failed at Auckland. Include.
ALTA CASSINO stepped up slightly February 18 to place here. Another mid range draw tonight.

Race 6

5 Dixie Reign
6 The Banker
2 Bugalugs
8 Spirit Of Anzac

DIXIE REIGN has her first stand start tonight. Racked up four wins at Cambridge before being beaten by a bad draw February 18. Fourth in premier mares company last Friday. If she steps clean she will be tough to bowl.
THE BANKER qualified from the stand on Saturday and was very slow to go but he did pace away. He's a toughie who suits this kind of racing.
BUGALUGS was third in the Cambridge cup three start's ago and no luck since. Steps fast and could lead and trail.
SPIRIT OF ANZAC has had two stands and placed on one occasion. Has had genuine excuses in his last two starts. Rates highly.
BROOKIES JAFFA may have finished last, last Thursday but still clocked a 26 last quarter which suggests he just couldn't get into it on the sprint home. The stand has been his kryptonyte thus far but hopple shorteners on tonight may help.
YOUNG CONQUEROR had the race handed to him last week. He is hit and miss at the start and 15m will test him but if he steps away won't be far away.

Race 7

8 Show Me Heaven
9 On A Roll
4 Bankers Gold
10 Montana Jet

SHOW ME HEAVEN just needed a front row draw to be top pick. Only chance of winning is when she leads. Outsprinted after slackening off the pace maybe too much last friday. Still ran home in 55.8.
ON A ROLL drops out of the group and listed mares races the last two weeks at Auckland. She placed in her first start here and galloped away and took no part in a Cambridge cup heat in January. Striking form and won't get a better chance.
BANKERS GOLD found the trail from barrier four last week and was held up by a tiring leader. Still got to second and is In peak form and deserves a win.
MONTANA JET won his maiden last Thursday. This is a bug step up. A first four chance.
Expect NUDIST BEACH to be the early leader. Found 2700m too far last time.
SARANDON went one of her best races running second to Fortunia February 12. Didn't seem to back up six days later but has been freshened up. Hard to leave out.
Of the others SUNSET RED has been competitive at this level plenty of times before.

Race 8

6 Jasinova
3 Wynberg Watch
1 Ultimate Moment
4 Shakemjenny

JASINOVA was a black booker last Thursday. She was slow away but was extremely good afterward. Gallops nearly every time at the start but when she goes away look out.
WYNBERG WATCH is on potential the best horse in this. Ran out of room when improving on the markers at the 1900 mark last week. A small field tonight helps and needs to be driven like the best horse.
ULTIMATE MOMENT just battled last week and Jasinova got past him late too. Barrier one hasn't helped in the past. On his best behaviour should be there somewhere.
SHAKEMJENNY didn't trot well first up last time. Good enough to place in Auckland last November.
KISSME QUICK has been a long slow project for the JBI. They can get a horse fit when resuming but hard to see her winning.

Best Bet: Race 2 (5) The Last Gamble
Each Way Value: Race 7 (9) On A Roll
