Jason Teaz's tips for Auckland

Form analyst Jason Teaz takes a detailed look at tonight's fields at Auckland (Friday).

Race 1

10 Maurice
3 Kayla Maguire
9 Prodigal Pete
8 Mighty Monica

MAURICE has had three starts in the North and run the two best races out of those at Alexandra Park. He also has the advantage of his trainer Cheree Wigg driving. He was ultra unlucky in his first up race in the north which was also an amateur race.
KAYLA MAGUIRE was run down late when last racing in amateur company behind Mighty Monica. Scratched from the Manawatu meeting so things weren't right. Has the draw advantage as long as she scores up.
PRODIGAL PETE put together three thirds in amateur company before failing last time as favorite. He was a false favorite anyway. Barrier nine will be tricky. A place show.
MIGHTY MONICA is hard to catch. Things went south big time at Manawatu but returns home tonight. Won the last amateur race contested on March 12. Don't dismiss.
EYECON is only a maiden but did run third behind Play Philly and Cover Girl last Saturday at the trials. Good form.
FRANKIE JONES has an interesting driver engagement with Sheryl Wigg taking the drive on him. Possibly the least in form of her runners. The smokey.

Race 2

10 Gaz Man
4 Liaison
3 Saint Michel
1 I See Fire

GAZ MAN was costly last week. That was a very strong field and the large field got to him like it has before. A smaller field tonight and the 2700m start point, like it does for so many trotters will help a lot.
LIAISON just ended up badly placed last Friday from barrier one. His last half was quick though as they ran home in 57 off the front. A big plus is the return of one of his regular driver's.
SAINT MICHEL is racing out of his skin. Last week he found trouble but he really found the line. A hard 2700m suits.
I SEE FIRE has an issue called barrier one. Auckland historically hasn't been a happy hunting ground either. Showed when he is on song down in grade at Cambridge how dominant he can be. Second in a maiden trial last Saturday was just fair.
ASTERIA LAVRA has ability but manners let her down consistently. Returns tonight after a freshen up so have a look. Still misbehaving at the trials though.
It was more like it for HIGH IN THE SKY at Cambridge last Thursday when second. Her only win came here.

Race 3

8 We Have A Mach Two
7 Kerri Maguire
4 Cashlodo Flybye
9 Shes No Lady

More bad luck has struck WE HAVE A MACH TWO tonight with another barrier eight, couple that with a seven and a five. of late. Ran a big race last week. Only the draw beats him.
KERRI MAGUIRE was run down late last Friday. Racing against better fields than this. Definite each way despite the draw.
CASHLODO FLYBYE stuck on reasonably well after breezing early on 2:40 speed. From the draw looks the early leader. She's very fast.
SHES NO LADY is a former group one winner racing nowhere near that form but the fourth was one of her better efforts in an age. She may find herself locked up on the pegs from the second row draw.
SMOKINHOTCHEDDAR is a mare capable of winning a race like this. Just battling lately.

Race 4

4 Play Philly
6 Cover Girl
1 Suntan
5 Miki Montana

PLAY PHILLY has won two from three so far. Picked up the Group Three Leonard Memorial March 7. Drawn nicely in her Northern debut. Has been to the trials lately twice.
COVER GIRL has had Play Philly's measure lately with two consecutive trial wins over her. Showed good speed last Saturday at Pukekohe. A hard task to win a race like this on debut but looks ready.
SUNTAN travels north for this series also. Has had some tough trips in her career so barrier one is a welcome change. Drawn to get a great run.
MIKI MONTANA is a talented filly who got wrong on debut bur went a huge race for second across the line. Forced to work overtime and was very game when second March 26. The southern fillies do look better at this point but she has the track experience.
MR KAPLAN was the Group Two Delightful Lady classic winner. Burned too hard for too long last time and could be in the right spot to upset tonight again.
ARTISAN looked the best filly early on but has looked a bit flat footed since then. The draw makes it tough tonight.
MONTANA GLORY had to be big on debut and lop them coming off the back. This is a better lineup but is classy.

Race 5

6 Call Me Trouble
7 Kay Cee
3 Emma Frost
8 Forget The Price Tag

CALL ME TROUBLE was phenomenal last week. In a race where fellow back markers couldn't even catch the body of the field this horse looped them and smashed them. In the same mood wins this also.
KAY CEE was second last week in the farcical five horse main trot when they started racing from the home turn. On that occasion started off the front but tonight goes back to the 20m mark. Overdue a win on the massive handicapped runs earlier in the year.
EMMA FROST was a nose off winning both Breeders stakes races this year. Very unlucky March 26h. This is an even field she can run top four.
FORGET THE PRICE TAG whacked on well in that 56 half last Friday. He tries hard but is just struggling to win these races.
WOODSTONE ran third off the 35m handicap back in February. Tough horse to back with any confidence. Last sighted in Greenlane cup March 5.

Race 6

4 Alta Wiseguy
2 Cya Art
1 Brookies Jaffa
9 Ideal Agent

It's hard to believe that only two starts ago ALTA WISEGUY was a maiden. This race is a banana skin for him but he's now in his best form to overcome that. Top pick.
CYA ART was third behind Alta Wiseguy and Ideal Agent last week. Another who is much improved and could cosy up nicely off a good speed in this.
BROOKIES JAFFA had gear problems in Hawera cup and then was terribly unlucky in the Palmerston North cup. Carted back at a bad time and somehow ran third. Given his chance in this company tonight and he will shock a few.
IDEAL AGENT is a Cambridge gold cup winner this year. Arguably the run of his life last week. Worked overtime and was only just rounded up late by Alta Wiseguy. The draw could end up OK.
DOWN THE HATCH won in mares company last week but paced 2:40 to win it. This field is tougher but still a place consideration.

Race 7

5 Queen Of Strathfield
7 Trifolium
4 Love And Faith
2 Constellation

QUEEN OF STRATHFIELD chalked up her eighth second last Friday. A modern day marvel. Should win this tonight. It's hard to see her headed at any point of this.
TRIFOLIUM is not comfortable right handed. Even though just battling this is notch down on previous maiden trots here. A place certainty.
LOVE AND FAITH hasn't raced since January 14. Given a short break and resumed with a faultless workout win at Cambridge on Saturday. Had tye up issues previously but seems on top of her game now.
CONSTELLATION is a must for first fours.
SONSOFTHEMERCH can trot and the removal of the toe weights may free him up a bit to find that speed.

Race 8

1 Hesashorething
2 Art Nouveau
4 Four Kisses
7 Louie The Horse

HESASHORETHING is the best horse in this field. Two massive runs to start his career. Tonight barrier one could be tricky as a fast gate horse is drawn to his outside and he hasn't been totally comfortable getting grit in his face. On top.
ART NOUVEAU enjoyed the 1700m last Friday. 2200m again tonight so the early burn could cost him late. Will give you a sight.
FOUR KISSES got wrecked March 26. Give another chance in this lineup tonight. Never got out March 12 and looms as a big each way hope.
LOUIE THE HORSE got savaged last Thursday at Cambridge. Did well to go so close to winning. Auckland record isn't flash and the draw hurts but as long as he has taken no harm from the gut buster. He will run on.

Best Bet: Race 7 (5) Queen Of Strathfield
Each Way Value: Race 2 (4) Liaison
