Jason Teaz's Cambridge tips

Form analyst Jason Teaz casts his eye over the fields at Cambridge tonight (Thursday). First race 5.20pm.

Race 1

4 Mufasa Metro
12 Jasinova
8 The Last Gamble
10 Random Jude

MUFASA METRO looks the biggest certainty of the night. Third in the Sires Stakes trot April 23 behind Five Wise Men and Leaf Stride. Has never started in a left handed race or trial. Which says there may be a concern that direction.
JASINOVA is a talented three year old filly on top of her game. After smashing them when winning a maiden she went the race of her life April 9 in a strong race. Draw is tricky.
THE LAST GAMBLE returns tonight after a brief freshen up. Has great mobile stats and high gate speed to overcome the outside draw.
RANDOM JUDE is having her first start behind the mobile tonight. Three starts for three placings since joining Geoff Martin and even though the mobile won't be her best friend, she can place.
THANK YOU tired out late last week after doing a heap of work. Barrier one is an interesting proposition if he behaves.
HIGHVIEW ROCKN ROLL placed in her only start off the mobile as a maiden. Drawn nicely enough here and did fight on strongly last week.
ALANA appears to be trotting better left handed than right handed lately and three starts ago she led the charge behind a ten race winner in She Reigns which is amazing form.

Race 2

8 Pocket Book
13 It's A Laugh
1 Maya Angelou
12 El Questro

POCKET BOOK has found an element of toughness lately. Had no luck at all last week from barrier 14 after starting a searching run three wide and was left out there. Being beaten seven lengths wasn't bad given the field was tougher than this.
IT'S A LAUGH has improved immensely since winning his maiden. Draw is rough but many of the leading players are drawn badly too.
MAYA ANGELOU gets the ace draw tonight. A big turnaround from the previous few. An each way chance.
EL QUESTRO is on the ballot here but the best horse in this race by many lengths. A first and a third the last two weeks in maiden workouts should see him fit enough and this field won't scare him.
DRAMATIST ran a cheeky race for second last week. Racing in great fettle and can surprise a few tonight.
ITSTHEFINALCOUNTDOWN was allowed to miss last week's meeting. Prior form before the last start miss was solid enough.

Race 3

6 Phoebe Imperial
5 As Free As Air
2 Majestic Harry
1 Fira

PHOEBE IMPERIAL looks thrown in here. A winner of two off the mobile and after a dominating win here April 15. Chased home Monkey Selfie April 23 beating home some way better horses than these. Should win.
AS FREE AS AIR is racing very consistently. Placed at Auckland behind Phoebe Imperial two weeks ago and was mildly unlucky last week after being caught four back the fence.
MAJESTIC HARRY never got into it last week. Heading to the spelling paddock post this. Has good gate speed so if he can trail he becomes an each way chance.
FIRA stopped after sitting parked last Thursday. From barrier one she should be in a reasonable spot throughout.

Race 4

3 Harvey Specter
5 Toodaloolou
7 Wet Flipflops
1 Big Skewy

HARVEY SPECTER has run three very consistent races off average draws since joining the Blanchards. Drawn to dominate tonight and get that deserved maiden win.
TOODALOOLOU was eye catching on debut but not flash second up. Give her another go.
WET FLIPFLOPS couldn't get into it off the wide draw last week. Running on late when it was all over. Good enough to win this.
BIG SKEWY should take advantage of barrier one and receive every chance tonight. Third two starts ago is good form.
TINTORETTO is much improved lately. Got checked and lost a few spots early last time but did well to find fourth against many of these.

Race 5

4 Jack Tar
6 Pull The Other Leg
8 American Me
10 Eagle Watch

JACK TAR was only beaten one and three quarter lengths April 23 at Auckland. A reversal in draws means he should lead here or trail the right horse. Definite each way.
PULL THE OTHER LEG broke from the stand last week and put in a big recovery for fourth. Has had some hard runs so it remains to be seen whether he can keep sustaining these. Still a big hope.
AMERICAN ME cops another preferential draw wide alley tonight. If there's a war he can get over the top.
EAGLE WATCH got back to winning form last Thursday Took advantage of bad manners from others to get that win. This tougher but holds form once finding it.
SPIRIT OF ANZAC should be no worse then three back the markers from barrier nine. The markers is a good spot in this grade.
J BEE was a little disappointing last time. Was close enough but couldn't get home as strong as we are accustomed too. Would have improved on that run.

Race 6

13 Hooray Henry
2 El Questro
1 The Sportsman
3 Emmber

HOORAY HENRY is a lovely horse going places. Fresh out of maidens it took a class horse in Oroua to knock him over last Thursday. Another bad draw but respect him.
EL QUESTRO may have to start in this as he may not get a start earlier. A third and a first against maidens in two maiden workouts the last two weeks. If he can get back to his best he can win this.
THE SPORTSMAN dominated off the front when winning his maiden a week ago. Barrier one again tonight suits, and even though this is harder he can win again.
EMMBER is a dual acceptor and is balloted here. This is a monumentally weaker field than her other assignment but needs a scratching. If starting in this race she becomes top pick.
CLAUDIA SCHIFFER has had two forgive runs since winning her maiden easily. A fifth in a Nevele R fillies heat followed by a luckless seventh off a poor draw last week. Consider for first fours.
CLOUDY BAY found form last week but that was after leading end to end. A harder proposition tonight but is another consideration.
BODRUM BOY drops out of the feature pace to this tonight but gets barrier 14. Needs to be closer to them and on the markers to win but can place.

Race 7

4 Brookies Jaffa
1 Sarandon
7 Frankie Jones
8 Kowhai Park

BROOKIES JAFFA drops hugely in class after running fifth twice at Auckland lately. He was savaged in front on 2:41 pace then in a walk and sprint clocked a 56.2 half last Friday. Only Alta Wiseguy got past him in the straight last week. A major player.
SARANDON got no peace and gave it in late last time. Receives another beaut draw tonight so should be in this.
FRANKIE JONES is much improved lately. Hadn't fired since chasing home Brookies Jaffa in the Wellington cup in January. Won an amateur at Auckland by seven lengths and then stepped and stayed handy in the feature stand start pace last Thursday.
KOWHAI PARK is another returning from Auckland company. Draw is the only pity but he can rough it if required.
HAPPY PLACE makes a rare appearance at Cambridge. Had no chance in the Alta Wiseguy snoozefest last Friday either. Won't be far away.

Race 8

1 Ahwel
3 Skyzrclearnsunny
6 Sly Punter
2 Chicago H

AHWEL is dodging the two year only race at Auckland for this race tonight. The left handed option may be the only reason but this is extremely winnable race. Only concern is if any mental duress was caused from the two gallops at Pukekohe last Saturday.
SKYZRCLEARNSUNNY was narrowly beaten last week after leading. Fought well and looks foolproof. A clear danger to the two year old.
SLY PUNTER is a big goof who lacks ring craft but he has improved his manners greatly in a short period of time. Qualified off the mobile last Saturday from the unruly to keep him down and trotting. In that trial he produced a last half in 60 against the learner pacers. A definite option.
CHICAGO H is also very green. Galloped last week and even with the mobile it won't help him when pressure goes on breaking. Watch for improvement tonight.

Best Bet: Race 3 (6) Phoebe Imperial
Each Way Value: Race 7 (4) Brookies Jaffa
