It's all very Unhinged at Addington tonight

By Dave Di Somma, Harness News Desk

Nigel Armstrong is hoping all the stars will align at Addington tonight.

The man behind Facebook's very popular Harness Racing Unhinged page will line up the Harness Racing Unhinged syndicate's very own horse Very Majestic in Race 3, which just happens to be the Harness Racing Unhinged Trot (5.30pm).

That's a lot of unhinged.

"It's just the way it's worked out," says Armstrong, "I had no idea Addington was going to name the race that until I saw the fields come out!"

"It was a surprise but a good surprise."

Armstrong has a long association with syndicates, most notably with the Witches of Westview who raced, among others, the very successful Spellbound (pictured above). She won 14 races and has since had a Bettor's Delight colt.

By Majestic Son out of six race winner Very Persuasive, Very Majestic was bred by Auckland Trotting Club President Jamie MacKinnon (Olympic Swiss Watches Limited). He retains the largest share, along with Nigel's wife Brenda and the syndicate.

"I liked the look of her breeding so got in contact with Jamie to see if we could get involved," says Armstrong, "the Unhinged syndicate has leased 40 per cent of the horse."

The syndicate will race five horses in all - Very Majestic, Shake It Up Sister, Rock Lobster, Stormbreaker and Olivia.

"At the moment around 90 per cent of those involved are new to racing and that's what this is all about - growing the sport."

Very Majestic has shown plenty of ability at the trials, with two wins ahead of her debut tonight.

Armstrong is hopeful "Lynn" will follow the likes of other young trotters Ya Right Darl, Kairaki Spur, Moses and Bravehearthighlander who have been recent winners for in-form trainers Robert and Jenna Dunn, and the rest of the team at Diamond Racing.

"She's a work in progress but Craig Edmonds and Johnny (Dunn) have been working with her and they are a lethal combination, specially with these maiden trotters."

Very Majestic will start off the unruly tonight.

"She trialled from a stand and got a bit fractious so Jonny thought the unruly was the best place for her."

"And first up who knows what will happen, we will have our fingers crossed."

Anyone wanting more information about getting involved can contact Armstrong through his Harness Racing Unhinged Facebook page.
