Huge Horse-related Collection Up for Grabs
Calling all book collectors, racing historians, and horse lovers - a massive collection of items, including books and catalogues - is being offered free of charge.
Mark Harrison has around 18 boxes full of racing and horse paraphernalia belonging to his sister Lynette Miles who died at her Kawerau property in the Bay of Plenty in late March.
Her collection dates back to the 1970s and Mark is keen to find a new owner who will appreciate them.
“There is so much there, some beautiful books, bloodstock books, Karaka catalogues, ornaments, even horse cushions. If it had a horse on it she’d want it,” said Mark, “there are 35-40 bridles alone.”
Lynette bred horses, prepared weanlings and yearlings and also won awards with show horses.
“She loved horses, she’d kiss them good night and she’d buy them birthday presents.”
But now the collection has to go.
