HRNZ Notice - Changes to starts at Addington
As previously stated, from Sunday, June 1 the front-line limit in 2600m standing start races at Addington Raceway will be reduced from 10 to nine on a trial basis.
This change, aimed at reducing crowding and improving the fairness of starts, will lower the safety limit from 16 to 15 horses when all are off the front.
In addition, a separate trial for 2600m and 1980m mobile starts will commence from Friday, June 6. This involves horses filing further back when approaching the mobile arm. The initiative has been endorsed by Stewards, HRNZ, Addington, and the Trainers and Drivers Association.
Both trials will run through to July 31 and will be reviewed before any permanent changes are considered.
