HRNZ Covid Clarification - December 2

With the new Traffic Light system coming into place tomorrow (December 3), Harness Racing New Zealand wants to clarify the situation around who’s allowed on-course, and who’s not.

From Friday the rules regarding racegoers are clear. Everyone aged 12 and over wanting to be at the races must be fully vaccinated (two doses), unless they are Ministry of Health exempt. Children under 12, who legally cannot be vaccinated, can go on-course.

Vaccine passes will need to be sighted on arrival. Mask-wearing is encouraged.

The rules are different for workers however. The Government says they have till January 17 to be fully vaccinated and will be allowed on-course in the meantime as long as they have had their first jab by December 3.

Workers include everyone from drivers, trainers, and TAB staff to hospitality staff and other essential workers involved in the running of a meeting.

In any "red" area including Auckland crowds will be limited to pods of 100 while areas in orange and green will be able to have unlimited crowds.
