Gore Punting Guide

The Gore Harness Racing Club has provided holiday punters with a comprehensive guide for punters for their massive Gore Cup meeting today.

Gore’s Good Things Race 1

The locals look well placed to start a huge day of racing at Gore on a good note.

Midnitetraintogeorga is ideally placed in barrier 5, is trained on this track and has the top training and driving combination of Tony Stratford and Blair Orange on her side.

Kowhai Shadow looks her biggest threat, she like grass track racing and is in great form but has been dealt a tricky draw in barrier 13.

Lynrd Skynrd is another with a tricky draw and though it won’t be easy for him, he’s tough and looks capable of running a very cheeky race.

For those taking Trifectas and First4s, consider Fireforfiddle, Valynda and Nyla.

Selections: Midnitetraintogeorga (5), Kowhai Shadow (14), Lynryd Skynryd (8), Fireforefiddle (9)

Suggested Bet: Midnitetraintogeorga (5) – Eachway

Gore’s Good Things Race 2

He’s not too popular across the world, but Donald Trump can be the punter’s friend today.

Like his namesake, he is a little risky and could break at the start, but he looks the best horse in this race.

It doesn’t take a racing expert to realise In The Groove is a big winning threat and he is arguably a safer bet than Donald Trump.

Westland Peak is another horse trained on this track that looks a good chance, she went a very good race in her last start at Winton.

Caen and Granny Rose look like a good options for place bettors or those taking Trifectas and First4s.

Selections: Donald Trump (3), In The Groove (6), Westland Peak (11), Granny Rose (12)

Suggested Bet: Donald Trump (3) & In The Groove (6) – Quinella

Gore’s Good Things Race 3

First starter One Hopeful Dream hasn’t got the exposed form many of her rivals has, but her trials suggest she is a real talent.

From barrier 2 she should get a nice run and prove hard to beat.

Seventh Heaven has a shocker of a draw in barrier 8 but has a lot of early speed to overcome it.

She’s a serious win threat.

B Smart is a reliable mare who is proven on grass tracks, she should give eachway punters a good run for their money.

Celtic Abbey, Ellz Angel and Tiger’s Watching are each solid options for those taking Trifectas and First4s.

Selections: One Hopeful Dream (2), Seventh Heaven (8), B Smart (13), Ellz Angel (5) .

Suggested Bet: One Hopeful Dream (2) – Eachway

Gore’s Good Things Race 4

Dwindle Star’s last start sixth might not look too flash on paper, but it was a very good run in a nice field.

Trained and driven by the master trotting man Phil Williamson, she looks a very strong hope.

Dem Bones Dem Bones doesn’t just have a catchy name, she ran second on grass recently which bodes well for today’s meeting.

Miss Bamboocha, another name that will capture attention, is another horse that looks a strong eachway option for punters.

Sage Trouble should run another good race and is needed in your combination bets.

Selections: Dwindle Star (6), Dem Bones Dem Bones (2), Miss Bamboocha (5), Sage Trouble (11).

Suggested Bet: Dwindle Star (6) – Eachway

Gore’s Good Things Race 5

Another local horse looks a good chance of getting the spoils here.

Captain Starlight went a strong race in a strong field in his debut at Winton and will return to his home track better for the experience.

Speights On Tap won’t just be a favourite behind the bar.

This horse has been in great form and should run another great race.

Galleon’s Contender is a first starter that has looked good in his trials and has the help of a great draw in barrier 1.

Lou’s Deal has run some tidy races this season, he broke in his last start so just needs to do things right to be a threat.

Carerra Dance and Vigilante are options for Trifecta and First4 takers.

Selections: Captain Starlight (3), Speights On Tap (14) Galleons Contender (1), Lou's Deal (11)

Suggested Bet: Captain Starlight (3) – Eachway

Gore’s Good Things Race 6

Cool Idea produced a fantastic win on grass recently and if she can repeat that effort she will be hard to beat.

She’s going to be helped by having a great draw in barrier 4.

Ariella is a very smart horse who has the class to overcome a tricky draw on the second line of the mobile in barrier 13.

Sweet Annie is another horse starting from a tricky spot, she was a very good winner in her last start and she must be considered.

Joyfuldolly is unbeaten after winning her first start and she looks capable of running another good race.

Smokin Annie is one for those looking for a roughie, she has competed in better fields than this.

Selections: Cool Idea (4), Ariella (13), Sweet Annie (9), Joyfuldolly (7)

Suggested Bet: Ariella (13) – Eachway

Gore’s Good Things Race 7

What a race this should be, plenty of talented horses to choose from and the big guns should all give you a great run for your money.

It is impossible to ignore the scintillating last start win of Duke Of Wellington who should prove very hard to beat.

On his side, he has the best draw among the leading hopes.

Yorokobi is a very nice horse and has raced in some top class company, he’s another great chance.

Tommy Waterhouse comes to Gore after an outstanding win, he is a real threat even from his tricky number 8 draw.

Artatac is a very nice horse and though he rates fourth pick, he has a realistic winning shot.

Best Bets: Duke Of Cornwall (4), Yorokobi (5), Tommy Waterhouse (7), Artatac (6)

Selections: Duke Of Cornwall (4) – Win

Gore’s Good Things Race 8

It looks like another great race for the locals with the locally owned The Night Watchman coming into this race in great form.

He won on grass recently which is a big plus, he just has to overcome a tricky draw in barrier 7 to win again.

The locally trained Unsurpassable looks another strong winning hope, he is another that has proven himself on grass.

Though his form doesn’t read too well, Proviseur has the best grass stats of any horse in this race and he could offer nice value.

Ideal Robyn is trained on the track and won here at the Christmas meeting last year.

Superfast and Percy should be considered by those taking Trifectas and First4s.

Selections: The Night Watchman (7), Unsurpassable (3), Proviseur (13), Ideal Robyn (11)

Suggested Bet – The Nightwatchman (7) – Eachway

Gore’s Good Things Race 9

An outstanding field has been assembled for Gore’s best pacing race of the year.

Johnny Mac is a classy customer, coming off a nice third in the Wairio Cup and he looks hard to beat.

He starts from the 30m backmark which won’t be easy, but he can overcome it.

Keep On Dreaming comes into today’s race after impressing in the Wairio Cup after working hard and fighting on well at the finish.

Plutonium Lady won the Wairio Cup and likes grass track racing so she must rate a big threat.

Memphis Tennessee is suited to the test of stamina of 2750m on grass, so should be considered as well.

Get Up N Dance and Love On The Rocks can also figure in the finish what is set to be a great race.

Selections: Johnny Mac (10), Keep On Dreaming (4), Plutonium Lady (8), Memphis Tennessee (9)

Suggested Bet: Johnny Mac (10) – Eachway

Gore’s Good Things Race 10

Another Cup race and another cracking field.

Andy Hall ticks all the boxes in this race.

He is a very smart horse who likes grass racing and looks fit and ready to win after a good third last weekend.

The Dominator is another nice horse, he starts from the 30m back mark, giving Andy Hall a 10m headstart.

That won’t be easy but he should still run a great race.

Springbank Mason has a headstart on both of them, he’s proven on grass and is a reliable type.

Willangus Lad is capable of running a strong race, as is King Cassidy who ran a cracker at Winton last weekend.

Selections: Andy Hall (10), The Dominator (12), Springbank Mason (8), Willangus Lad (1)

Suggested Bet: Andy Hall (10) – Win

Gore’s Good Things Race 11

This is a very even race, punters could choose up to half a dozen horses and get a great run for their eachway bets.

Ruby Seddon comes into the event after a very unlucky run where she was denied racing room in the home straight.

Her form prior to that was good and she looks a genuine chance.

Peregrine’s formline speaks for itself, she is a smart horse and after a nice recent trial she looks ready to run a big race.

Break Out has run strong races in her last two starts and there looks no reason she can’t go another good race.

King Of The North has produced some very good trials ahead of today’s meeting and he likes grass track racing

Madrik is definitely good enough to win too and Dont Ask and Foreigner also have claims.

Selections: Ruby Seddon (7), Peregrine (2), Break Out (4), King Of The North (14)

Suggested bet: Ruby Seddon (7) – Eachway

Gore’s Good Things Race 12

Midfrew Luisianabeau looks a good option to help you go home on a winning note after a great day out at the trots.

He has drawn barrier 1, which is the shortest way home and he comes into the event after running a cracking race on grass recently.

Peroni is a nice horse who follows Midfrew Luisianabeau out at the start, he could get a great run and prove hard to beat.

Calypso Rock is a very genuine type who generally gives his his backers a great run for their money.

I’m Trouble won at this meeting last year and has shown encouraging signs recently, he could be a good value bet.

Hurricane Banner is another get-out bet if you’re looking for a nice divie.

Selections: Midfrew Luisianabeau (1), Peroni (9), Calypso Rock (4), I'm Trouble (2)

Suggested Bet: Midfrew Luisianabeau (1) – Eachway
