Eureka goes four from five
By Dave Di Somma - Harness News Desk
Formerly trained in Canterbury, Eureka is proving to be a quality addition to the Gath barn in Victoria.
The four-year-old (Washington VC – Bryleigh Jewel) was sent across the Tasman in February after winning four from 22 ($45,485) in this country. Trained by Grant Payne, Eureka’s last win here was for driver Ricky May at Motukarara on December 1 2019.
Since linking up with the Gaths the horse has won four from five. Driven by Kate Gath, the last win was at Melton on Saturday night after racing in the death. He posted a mile rate of 1:55.3.
Eureka’s only blemish came when he galloped and broke at Cranbourne in late March.
The victory completed a winning treble for Gath.
"He just seems to be getting better and better and I'm really not surprised what he did on the feel he has given me on the last couple of starts."
