Countdown on to Racing Rewards Series
A win and a third at Motukarara yesterday have helped propel Buffy Northstains and Ruby's A Delight into a clear lead in the Racing Reward Series.
The highly popular series, which was last year known as the RATTO Showcase, will have their finals at Addington Raceway on Saturday April 8, with three pacing and two trotting races over 2600m, each worth $27,000.
There will be 16 starters in each of the trots, with 14 pacers in each of their three races.
The series is all about encouraging and highlighting intermediate grade horses. To qualify horses must be R35 - 60 and 4YO and older, as of January 1, 2023.
After finishing third yesterday Ruby's A Delight leads the pacers. She finished second in one of the four finals last year.
She is ahead of Kingsdown Atom (43.89) and last start Manawatu winner Santanna Mach.
In the trotters Buffy Northstains has gone to the top of the pile following her win at Motukarara yesterday. She now has 49.92 points, from Vertigo on 45.00 and Sly Punter (38.30).
The qualifying period for the trotters and pacers is January 1 - April 2, and all horses must have had at least three starts.
Last year's winners were trotters Petronelli Gee and Quik Shot as well as pacers Shanika, Mach Quillan, Himself and Mighty Reactor.
