Change for NZB National Yearling Sale
A change of format has been confirmed for next February's NZB Standardbred National Yearling Sale in Christchurch.
Entries are now open, with the Sale taking place in Auckland (Karaka) on Sunday, February 16 and Christchurch, Tuesday February 18, 2025.
The Christchurch session will see a refreshed format, with the Sale at the Canterbury Agricultural Park to be condensed from two days to just one day. The break between the northern and southern sales is to allow time for travel and inspections to take place.
After recently canvassing in Australasia, NZB Standardbred Manager Cam Bray is enthusiastic about the upcoming sales season.
“Since 2019, our combined aggregate has increased from $12 million to closer to $14 million, plus a steady increase in our average from $40,000 to $51,000.”
“While the 2023 sales season saw a slight decrease overall during a tough period economically, there has since been a shift in the domestic scene with a number of incentives and increases in prizemoney with some more positive news to be announced very soon,” he added.
“We continue to strengthen our relationships with our major markets like Australia and USA, while we also build on exciting emerging markets such as China and the Philippines to add into the mix.
“We’ve already had strong interest in the 2025 Sale, so we look forward to getting out to the farms to inspect the next crop of champions and putting together a quality catalogue for buyers.”
