Latest Cup and Dominion Trot Rankings
Gun Australian Captain Ravishing has been a notable addition to the latest IRT New Zealand Cup rankings.
Connections of the star four-year-old have paid a late nomination fee to secure his place at Addington on Tuesday, November 14.
A winner of nine from 16 starts, Captain Ravishing's presence adds depth and interest to the country's greatest race. He has been rated 11th in this week's latest Road to the IRT Cup rankings. His last start was a third in the $2m Eureka at Menangle.
There are four Australians in the mix to take on their Kiwi rivals in the Cup with Captain Ravishing, Spirit Of St Louis (7th) and Swayzee (8th) set to make the field, and Loyalist needing to improve two places, from his current ranking of 17th, to get a start.
Captain Ravishing and Spirit Of St Louis will front up against some elite company in Saturday's Group 1 Victoria Cup at Melton in Victoria, while Swayzee will return to racing in a Free-For-All at Menangle on the same night.
Just how all three of them perform will be key to their chances of making the trip across the Tasman.
Among the changes in the past week American Me has leapt from 30th to 16 on the back of his win in the Group 3 Methven Cup last Sunday, and One Change has improved four places to 15th, the cut-off for the Cup.
Among those to have been withdrawn are two-time champion Copy That (injured), Anything Goes, Aardie's Express, Franco Indie, and Fernleigh Cash.
There hasn't been much movement in the rankings for the country's most prestigious trotting race, the Renwick Farms Dominion Trot at Addington on Show Day, Friday November 17.
Bolt For Brilliance goes up one place to fifth after winning fresh up in his comeback at Alexandra Park last week and Jimmy Carter is now 13th, up six places.
The latest rankings are subsequent to the sustaining payments for both the IRT New Zealand Cup and the Renwick Farms Dominion Trot.
