Cambridge and Auckland's NZHAT August fund-raiser
Alexandra Park and Cambridge Raceway will be raising funds for the New Zealand Horse Ambulance Trust in August - but they need your help.
Both raceways will be offering race sponsorship packages at greatly reduced prices, with all proceeds going to the Trust.
The cost to sponsor a race will be just $350 plus GST, down from the usual $750 plus GST. As well as getting exclusive naming rights to a race the package also includes a half page advertisement in the meeting's race book.
The four northern meetings during the month will be August 2,6,9 and 13 with 34 races in total, meaning potentially over $10,000 could be raised.
The deadline to register interest in the race sponsorship package is Monday, July 22.
Any owners racing their horses in August are also being asked to consider giving 10% of stakes won to the Trust. A donation of stakes winnings is eligible for a donation receipt, meaning that 33.33% can be claimed as a tax credit. For any queries contact [email protected]
All money raised will go towards maintaining the trust's national fleet of nine purpose-built ambulances. They currently attend every harness and thoroughbred race meeting around the country. This season a horse ambulance and experienced operator will attend over 650 race meetings and events, and it has been deployed 85 times this year to safely transfer an injured horse. Prompt access to specialist veterinary care and safe transport in a horse ambulance can literally be a lifesaver for animals injured on race day.
