Bravehearthighlander provides a boost for Team Dunn

From a  big high to a devastating low - that sums up the last few days for the Dunns' Diamond Racing.

On Friday night Bravehearthighlander, driven by junior driver Jacob Dunn,  sealed his place in the $400,000 Renwick Farms Dominion Trot with an upset victory in the Canterbury Park Trotting Cup.

This time last week he was 30th in the rankings.

Now he's into fifth place on the leaderboard and a certainty to start in the Group 1 on Go Media New Zealand Trotting Cup day at Addington on Tuesday, November 10.

Then came this week's news from the Dunn stable that their star trotter Mighty Logan has been ruled out of the Dominion and is being retired.

He had automatically qualified for the race through his win in the Ordeal Cup and was ranked third overall behind defending champion Gus and 2026 Rowe Cup winner Mr Love.

Mighty Logan's withdrawal and Bravehearthighlander's win has seen some significant movement in the rankings this week.

Nellie Doyle, Bounce N Beyond and Walkinonsunshine who were third, fourth and fifth in the Canterbury Park Trotting Cup have all climbed up the leaderboard.

Courtesy of his upset win in Friday night's Canterbury Classic at Addington, Bettors Anvil secured his place in the New Zealand Cup, going from 20th in the rankings last week to fifth.

The Telfer-trained star is currently an eighth favourite for the Cup paying $18, after opening at $41.

The rest of the rankings are largely unchanged though Merlin has gone from eighth to 11th. He will next race at Alexandra Park on Friday night.
