Bonus Meeting for Addington
One additional meeting has been announced for Addington as the sport readies itself for a return to racing.
After reviewing submissions on its draft calendar, RITA (The Racing Industry Transition Authority) has now released its revised dates for all meetings to the end of the current season.
That’s resulted in an additional meeting at Addington on Sunday June 7, starting at midday. The decision comes at a time when HRNZ is receiving feedback from trainers that there will be a sizeable horse population ready to race in June and July.
“If during the three months there is support and demand for additional races and/or meetings, the Dates Committee may respond accordingly and adopt a flexible approach in approving these at short notice,” said RITA Dates Committee Chair Edward Rennell.
As stated in the draft calendar racing will be confined to four tracks - Alexandra Park, Cambridge, Addington and Ascot Park.
“This revised calendar is intended to support industry measures to restrict travel, minimise interactions and keep all participants safe,” said Rennell.
HRNZ will release information on a revised programme of Workouts and Trials next week.
All dates and venues for meetings between May 29 and the end of July can be viewed here.
