Blue September 2023 - Sponsor your favourite ambassador!

Four new faces have been confirmed for Harness Racing New Zealand's Blue September campaign this year.

Nathan Williamson, Rory McIlwrick, Dylan Ferguson and Matty White will be ambassadors for the first time, with the campaign's 12 drivers (and their blue pants) coming from right around the country.

This is the third year HRNZ has been involved in the campaign, which is all about increasing awareness of prostate cancer and raising funds towards research. The key message is to encourage men to get checked, as early detection literally saves lives.

Last year the campaign raised just on $50,000 thanks to the efforts of the drivers as well as many other supporters and sponsors. This year we are hoping for similar results. For every win each of the 12 drivers has in September HRNZ will contribute $100 to the campaign, as will many of the clubs. Ambassadors are also sponsored by their own individual sponsors per win to help raise funds. If you want to sponsor one of our amabassadors please get in touch with [email protected]

The campaign's Launch Dinner will be held at Addington Raceway on September 1, with ticket and other details expected later in the week. Many other activities including a bingo night and a golf day are also being planned.

The 12 ambassadors are:

Zachary Butcher (Auckland)

Robbie Close (Canterbury)

Jonny Cox (Canterbury)

Dylan Ferguson (Waikato)

Mark Hurrell (Southland)

Rory McIlwrick (Southland)

Todd Mitchell (Waikato)

Korbyn Newman (Canterbury)

Blair Orange (Canterbury)

Matty White (Auckland)

Matty Williamson (North Otago)

Nathan Williamson (Southland)
