Anne Thompson to be remembered in new series

May is shaping up as a big month for the Rangiora Harness Racing Club.

The club will host three days of racing on its all-weather track, including a brand new series. There will be heats for non-win trotters and pacers on consecutive Sundays (May 1 and 8), and a $18,000 final for each gait on Sunday May 22.

"The series will be named the Anne Thompson Memorial Graduation Series in memory of Anne who passed away a couple of months ago. Anne was a regular host in our Birdcage Bar and her company was enjoyed by all who met her," says Rangiora Harness Racing Club administrator Glenn Hames, " And the family have also come to the party by providing a dress rug and trophy for the winners."

"We are looking forward to a highly competitive series for both the trotters and pacers and of course $18,000 for the maidens is nothing to be sniffed at!"

Sunday, May 1 will also feature the $20,000 Waimakariri Business Winter Cup.
