A - Z New Zealand Cup - H
It’s 19 days to the New Zealand Cup.
From now to November 10 we will feature some of the great races, horses and personalities with a new letter for each day.
H = Herlihy
The country’s most successful driver ever, Tony Herlihy is a three-time New Zealand cup winning driver, though the last one was a long time ago. It was 1993 when Chokin beat Master Musician and Giovanetto. Two years earlier he won with Christopher Vance while Luxury Liner got him his first Cup victory in 1988. Herlihy has won over three and a half thousand races, while Maurice McKendry, who’s second on the overall list, has never won a New Zealand Cup.
