From now to November 10 we will feature some of the great races, horses and personalities with a new letter for each day.

P = Pringle

Andy Pringle had an unusual relationship with the New Zealand Cup. In his first two drives in the great race he was tipped out of the sulky.
Then in 1914 he triumphed on the aptly-named Win Soon. The combo won by four lengths after the favourite Don Caesar and second favourite Denver Huon both skipped at the start.
Win Soon was the first Southland-bred horse to win the Cup.
