$7500 guarantee for Kiwis at ID25

A financial incentive is being offered to any Kiwi connections who compete in this year's Inter-Dominions in Queensland.

The prestigious trans-Tasman series is being held at Albion Park in Brisbane for the next three years, starting on July 5, 2025. The finals will be on July 19.

The Inter-Doms will be the centrepiece of Queensland's Constellations Carnival with the Pacing Final now worth $1m (up from $500,000) and the Trotting Final at $500,000.

Victory in the Pacing Grand Final is worth $540,000, with $155,000 for second and $100,000 for third while for the Trotters the winner's cheque is $270,000 with $77,500 for second and $50,000 for third.

Increased prizemoney is not the only lure for Kiwi owners and trainers.

A minimum prize money guarantee of $7500 will be on offer for all Kiwi-based horses competing in either the Trotting or Pacing Championship.

This has been co-funded by Harness Racing New Zealand, Racing Queensland, Harness Racing Australia and the Albion Park Harness Racing Club.

"It's a good initiative to get New Zealand horses there," says HRNZ Chief Executive Brad Steele, "$7500 is not to be sneezed at especially when you take into account the extra prizemoney on offer for both finals."

"The Inter Doms are all about having the best horses from both sides of the Tasman and hopefully there will be some quality Kiwi representation there and Leap To Fame hasn't scared everybody off."

The Australian superstar, who has now had 50 career victories, was seen at his devastating best when winning last Friday's $1m The race by betcha as part of Cambridge's Night of Champions.

To be eligible for the $7500 guarantee horses must be flown with event sponsor IRT if travelling by air and a suitable flight is being offered by IRT.

The winner of the $300,000 Rising Sun at Albion Park on July 5 will also progress straight through to the Inter Dominion Pacing Final as long as the horse is a four-year-old and meets other criteria.

Nominations for the Inter Dominions close on Wednesday, April 30.
