Yesberg heads to Rangiora with strong team
By Jonny Turner
Major Performer will be out to back up her smart debut victory at Ashburton recently when stepping out as part of a strong team Trent Yesberg has entered at Rangiora.
The filly charged home from midfield to make an impressive start to her career earlier this month.
Major Performer looks capable of stepping up in grade on Sunday and Yesberg is hopeful that’s the case.
“She is a lovely filly, she’s very untapped we don’t know how good she is yet,” the trainer said.
“She has trained on nicely since her win, having that race seems to have sharpened her up.”
“She’s pretty laid back, every time you work her you come back in her heart rate would be through the floor.”
“She worked super (earlier this week).”
Whosdreamingnow will make his debut for the Yesberg barn in race 4 on Sunday.
His trainer doesn’t think the maiden grade will hold Whosdreamingnow for too long.
“He is quite a handy maiden, he’s got a wee glitch in his gait but he’s getting better all the time.”
“He’s a nice horse, he’s much better than a maiden.”
Hutasa will be out to complete a remarkable turnaround when starting in race 10 on Sunday.
The pacer’s career was uncertain until he produced a nice last start second at Addington.
Starting from the outside of the front line looks the only major factor against Hutasa on Sunday.
“He worked great (on Tuesday), it is a bit unfortunate about the draw,” Yesberg said.
“Before his last start, he was close to being sacked but he went great at Addington.”
Northview Peg is another of the Yesberg team that has been handed a tough draw in race 8.
But like Hutasa, the mare has also pleased her trainer with her work this week.
Opening fixed odds win prices: Major Performer $6.50, Whosdreamingnow $7, Northview Peg $12, Hutasa $9.
