Twilight action at Ascot Park Raceway

A big evening of twilight action is in prospect with the Northern Southland Trotting Club meeting at Ascot Park Raceway in Invercargill this Wednesday (13 January).

A twelve race programme kicks off at 3.18pm with the action continuing in the southern twilight until 8.16pm.

Feature races on the day include the House Of Travel Lakers Summer Cup and the Mark Jones Racing Stables Gordon Sutherland Memorial Trot. Admission at the gate is free but $40 will give you a spot at the Top Of The Park where the viewing is great and food and beverage is all part of the price of your ticket.

As at all their meetings this season the club will make a draw just before the last race from losing tickets and also race book coupons to send a lucky winner on a flight to Stewart Island courtesy of Stewart Island Flights.

After race 5, timed to start at 5.11pm, the Caduceus Club Of Southland will present $1000 to the Southland Charity Hospital, the hospital which is a legacy of Blair Vining and his fight against the inequality of the ‘postcode lottery’ in health care.

There will be sufficient tote operators be on course to personally take your bets.

Owners can head to the Alabar Owners Room on the first floor where they can enjoy hospitality throughout the day while an Owners Prize draw will take place with the club drawing a winner at each of their three race days this season (10 October, 13 January, 13 March) to culminate with the announcement of an overall winner who will win big at the club’s Cup Day on Saturday 13 March.

Race sponsor Tip Top will give away 200 Tip Top Trumpets on course and with warm temperatures predicted for race day they will surely be a winner.

Prior to the meeting the club has drawn two winners of a $100 betting voucher to use on the day – the sponsors winner being Tip Top/Night N Day and the members winner John Christie.

Head to the Northern Southland Trotting Club facebook page for more information on a great evening of racing action.
