Tim Williams joins 1000 win club

It only took one drive and Tim Williams got his big milestone at Ashburton Raceway today.
Driving the hot favourite Transonic for his employers Stonewall Stud, Williams clinched his 1000th success in the sulky - not that it was a cakewalk.
After impressing at the trials Transonic was on debut for trainers Steve and Amanda Telfer in the Molly and John Rogers Memorial Mobile Pace and started at microcscopic odds ($1.30).
The well-bred three-year-old was in midfield early after starting from the second line and with a lap to Williams made his move, taking the hotpot to the front.
At the 300 metre mark Royal Belle put the heat on and Transonic was forced to dig deep on the slushy Ashburton track before going away to win by over three metres.
Williams was clearly pleased, and probably a bit relieved, to get the milestone so early on in the day.

Williams' 1000 winners, including 22 Group 1s, have come from nearly 7500 drives, his first winner was as a junior driver with Easy Armbro at Rangiora in 2007.
