Team Teal to get major boost

Just a day out from the opening Teal Pants meeting for 2021, the campaign has received a major financial boost.

Regan Todd’s Racing stables (Todd racing) will donate $50 for every race won by female drivers between now and March 14 on behalf of an owner.

Last year Team Teal female drivers won 72 races, with $50,000 raised in total.

It’s a campaign the benefactor, one of Todd's owners, feels privileged to be part of.

“My father died from cancer - it is such a good cause and I urge others to get involved.”

The campaign is all about raising awareness and funds for ovarian cancer research. It started in Australia by Duncan McPherson after he lost his wife Lyn to the disease. It is now in its fourth year in this country.

The campaign runs from February 1 to March 14 in this country with the first meeting at Addington tomorrow night (Thursday).

Also supporting the cause are Woodlands Stud and Harness Racing New Zealand who will donate $100 to every win by a female driver. Clubs will also donate to the cause.

More than 60 women are involved in the Teal Pants campaign, while driver Mark Hurrell will also be supporting the cause by wearing a Teal Cap and donating money every time he salutes the judge.

There will be many Team Teal activities lined up in the next few weeks and to keep updated check out this link here
