Paddock to Podium - how to track your credits

HRNZ's Paddock To Podium breeding credits tracker is now live.

By logging into MY HRNZ, breeders can then go to the Racing folder and find the credits they have earned as a breeder from horses that have raced since January 1, 2026.

“It is outstanding to see this coming to life as will be a critical engagement and interactive tool for our investors, said HRNZ Chief Executive  Brad Steele.

“The Paddock to Podium portal allows breeders to clearly track how their funds are building and make more informed, timely breeding decisions," says Steele.

The scheme was launched in September last year, with credits accrued from January 1, 2026.

The scheme offers a 5% credit to the listed breeder(s) of all prize money won by NZ-foaled 2YO - 6YO horses finishing 1-4 in all races in New Zealand, other than in Group and Listed races. For Group and Listed races, $1000 will be split among the breeders of horses finishing 1–5.

“It’s incredibly encouraging to see initiatives like these, the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere," says New Zealand Standardbred Breeders Association (NZSBA) Executive Manager Brad Reid.

A total of $350,000 of credits have been allocated to breeders as at March 31.

Breeders can see the credits of the individual horse and what they are entitled to depending on their percentage of the breeding entity. Breeders can also dig down to see the credits accrued per race.

Credits earned can be used directly against stallion service fees and semen transport costs incurred after August 1, 2026.

"On the back of what we’ve achieved in stabilising breeding numbers this year, it has the potential to play a major role in helping us build upward momentum," says Reid.

HRNZ is committed to the scheme annually for the next five years, subject to financial conditions.

"It’s about delivering convenience, clarity, and a more connected, positive experience for our participants," says Steele.

Ways to submit a claim through the Paddock to Podium will be released soon.
