One week to go in Team Teal

The final push is on for Team Teal 2026.

The annual campaign to promote awareness about ovarian cancer and raise funds towards research is into its final week, having just gone past $25,000 since it started on February 1.

The campaign's biggest fund-raising night will be at Addington this Friday.

To be held at the Terror To Love Lounge, the night will feature the final of the Trots at the Frocks fashion show as well as giveaways and other race night entertainment.

Tickets cost $60 and include a drink on arrival as well as a buffet dinner.

So far this campaign the total stands at $25,770. Money is raised every time a female driver wins a race in this country during the six week campaign, thanks to Harness Racing New Zealand and selected clubs, who donate $100 per win.

There are also five Team Teal Ambassadors who add to that total through individual sponsorships.

Overall there have been 83 wins, including 18 over the last week and seven at Reefton yesterday. Olivia Thornley had a great week, with four wins (2 at Oamaru, 1 Westport, 1 Reefton), taking her total to seven this campaign.

Leading the way are fellow Ambassadors Crystal Hackett with 11 and Sam Ottley on nine.

Across Australasia Team Teal has raised close on $100,000 this year with New Zealand's total third behind New South Wales and Victoria.

Team Teal started in Victoria in 2010 and expanded into all the other Australian states before crossing the Tasman in 2018. It's been held here annually ever since.
