Jason Teaz's tips for Cambridge

Form Analyst Jason Teaz takes a detailed look at Cambridge tonight (Thursday). First race 5.24 pm.

Race 1

6 Oroua
4 Dynamite Dez
5 Harvey Specter
7 Tuxedo Bromac

OROUA has had all three starts in his career at Auckland. All in quality maiden fields and drew bad alleys in all three. Tonight's draw isn't flash but this isn't a quality maiden lineup. First public outing for six weeks but should be ready.
DYNAMITE DEZ wins workouts for fun but finds one or two better on race day. It wasn't a quick run home last week but it was a better field than this. Gets his chance.
HARVEY SPECTER was first up for six weeks and first time up for the Blanchards last Thursday. Far from disgraced and is still improving.
TUXEDO BROMAC has been unlucky a couple of times in his nine starts. Draw means he goes back again tonight but will be running on late.
KIRI put in a forget effort last Thursday when blowing the scoreup and taking no serious part. Better than that and if she can behave can place.

Race 2

8 Ya Know
9 Highview Rockn Roll
12 My Royal Roxy
10 Tramps Like Us

YA KNOW is a quality three year old simply too good for these all things being equal. Last time went around in a strong three year old race at Auckland behind, amongst others Gaz Man and Mexicana. If they were in here they'd go round at $1.10.
HIGHVIEW ROCKN ROLL goes back to join the race winners off 30m tonight after winning her maiden last Thursday. This grade won't scare her and she was well driven last week so wouldn't have emptied the fuel tank.
MY ROYAL ROXY hasn't been anywhere since running second on Xmas eve. Sure to be short of a run but is a very consistent mare. Placed in nearly half of her starts here at Cambridge.
TRAMPS LIKE US whacked away last week in a weirdly run race. Being left parked maybe didn't suit but still was a bit lacklustre late.
RANDOM JUDE was given a quiet introduction to North Island racing last Thursday. Placed third and looked to blow out late so will have improved greatly.
Manners are always good.
ULTIMATE MOMENT is the best of the maiden chances. He belies the unruly moniker with good getaways and the blot to his form occurred at Alexandra Park last Friday which was a first for him. Looks the early leader.

Race 3

7 Sarandon
2 Bankers Gold
6 Weren't Watching
5 Mahia

SARANDON drops back in class hugely tonight. The last start was last Friday in a 2:40 run when she just never got into it. Auckland isn't her track anyway. Should be winning here.
BANKERS GOLD is overdue another win. The mission was just too tough last week at Auckland when burning off the gate and not being able to find the front. Will lead tonight and be hard to beat.
WEREN'T WATCHING drops out of a R51-56 pace last Thursday. Dropped many points of late and is very competitive at R54.
MAHIA got one win in the CD, but largely underperformed given her southern form. Normally consistent enough to fight out the pacings.
THE BLUE BEAT and TICKING OVER were recent Manawatu winners. They can't win but can be in the thin end of the first four.

Race 4

2 Kelvinz Luck
8 Rydgemont Son
5 Phoebe Imperial
6 Still Eyre

KELVINZ LUCK has had a freshen up since racing terrific over the Xmas premier meetings. Will be glad there's no Rain Mist And Muscle here tonight. Fresh and unsighted publicly lately but knowing James Stormont he won't be far off the mark required.
I'm still in shock RYDGEMONT SON performed so poorly last week. Was very slow away and ran into trouble losing any chance he may have had. A quality trotter facing opposition literally hundreds of metres below where he had been racing in the South.
PHOEBE IMPERIAL was outpaced at Auckland last Friday. Had no realistic chance from the 20m over the 2200m. This is streets easier and gets a huge turnaround in fortune with the front tape tonight
STILL EYRE will also enjoy moving forward from ther 30m mark to 10m tonight. That's more his go and he can stick.
If you can follow FIRA you do better than me. Mistakes litter her career but the next week she often trots.

Race 5

3 Hawthornden Hunk
1 Bodrum Boy
9 Pull The Other Leg
8 Spirit Of Anzac

HAWTHORNDEN HUNK can do it again. Yes, he's up two grades and up in distance but he's always been a nice horse with just no luck or he didn't help himself often. Last week he led and couldn't be run down. Will look for similar tactics tonight.
BODRUM BOY got the trail behind Kowhai Park end to end last Friday but couldn't muster enough up the lane. Should trail again here.
PULL THE OTHER LEG is feeling the effects of a massive debut season. From the draw he can either stay three back or have to loop them again. If he has to loop them it may be too tough again.
SPIRIT OF ANZAC doesn't ever fire at Manawatu so his flops there were no real surprise, however he needs to show he is back to his best form to win this.
ROUGH AND READY didn't seem to handle the tighter track at Manawatu despite the two second placings there. Competitive in this type of field before.
EAGLE WATCH was short of a run at Manawatu two weeks ago. He got carted back in the Palmerston North Cup but never fired. Respect required here.

Race 6

1 Montana DJ
4 Classy Operator
2 Major Perry
3 Strength And Honour

MONTANA DJ looms as the two year old in the north to beat. He won the Cardigan Bay stakes at Group One on March 5. Barrier one is a huge assist tonight meaning he will trail and get his shot on the passing lane. Trialled well last Saturday at Pukekohe beating Major Perry.
CLASSY OPERATOR carries the local hopes tonight. His gate speed will take him to the front tonight and really only one horse can beat him. Showed his readiness with a dashing galloping acemaker assisted workout here on Saturday.
MAJOR PERRY has been plagued with bad draws. Gets a better one tonight but still may have to rough it outside the leader. Looks a better three year old than a two year old but should place.
STRENGTH AND HONOUR was scratched last Friday. Has shown heaps at the trials winning three of five but concedes race night experience.

Race 7

2 Montana Storm
8 Allamericanlover
3 Montana Jet
6 Settle Petal

MONTANA STORM heads an interesting lineup of three year olds. The tough thing for them is the 2700m distance. It's not ideal. His win last Thursday was better than it looked as he was savaged early and still mustered well up the lane. If he's taken no harm from that he can win.
ALLAMERICANLOVER lost no admirers running second to The Honey Queen last week. She had to sit parked in that 1:54 mile rate. Easier field but barrier eight over this trip is a banana skin for her. The best horse in this but....
MONTANA JET galloped when cruising at the 800m mark last Thursday. The pace eased on him when a horse moving three wide crossed to the one out line. Expect to see him make it a staying test tonight.
SETTLE PETAL won her maiden here from the breeze March 18 and hasn't been disgraced in some harder fields since. Last run was in a R40 to 60. This is a R49-55, she's the smokey.
IDEAL PRINCE stuck on well for second last Thursday. If you go on Cambridge form only his form is immaculate.
Another drop back horse is LYNTON CREEK. He's been gradually losing points to be competitive again. Unlike many he will thrive over the 2700m trip and he's the blowout hope.

Race 8

5 Itsthefinalcountdown
11 Fleeting Grin
6 Carse O Fern Tom
8 Sing To Me

ITSTHEFINALCOUNTDOWN is looking to break a 38 start beaten run but he arguably hasn't raced better. His sole win came over 2600m at Oamaru, so the distance is no query.
FLEETING GRIN is a ten race winner and thirty two time, yes thirty two time place getter. Forget last week, it was a sit and sprint race and it didn't suit him. He's a winner of five over this trip. He's a big chance tonight.
CARSE O FERN TOM stuck on for a second down at Manawatu over the 2500m journey. He will grind away when others are getting tired.
SING TO ME is probably not well suited to the 2700m. She was in the walk and sprint race last week won by Hawthornden Hunk. She was mildly unlucky and the two sevenths were in stronger fields than this, one being the Cambridge Futurity.
MAYA ANGELOU goes in on breeding. She's out of a wee toughie who could stay all day in Bonnie Lass. She's on the improve too and will get one up here.
POCKET BOOK hasn't done anything over the 2700 previously but she raced outside her normal pattern last week with success sitting parked which normally ended in a world of pain for her.

Race 9

8 Hooray Henry
6 Nyla
2 Je T'Aime
5 Slys Shadow

HOORAY HENRY was outstanding last Thursday. His sectionals blew away his rivals running home in 56. Even from the outside draw he should beat these. Three seconds should equal a win tonight.
NYLA has come solid too. Two thirds in strong fillies and mares maidens in March, then a handy second placing behind Louie The Punter at the workouts March 31. That horse was narrowly defeated last week.
JE T'AIME has been adequate in both runs. Beaten around six lengths in both. She's a place chance.
SLYS SHADOW has moved to Todd Mitchell. Scratched last week in favour of this tonight. The trial form has always been better than the race form and this is her time to shine.
JODI is on debut. She has trialled OK. Her workout run on Saturday was nothing to write home about only running 2:55, so watch closely for any lead on her tonight.

Race 10

7 The Big Bird
4 The Last Gamble
8 Griffins Hall
1 Safrakova

THE BIG BIRD can break you. Wins impressively at Auckland one week, then gallops out the next. Broke twice in her only start here too but she has to be top pick on her best.
THE LAST GAMBLE isn't as sharp as she was two months ago. She's stepping so well but just using up her gas setting up fast times. Overdue a soft lead and if rated can win this. The sprint trip suits her.
GRIFFINS HALL made up for his March 18 blunder with a storming finish last week for fourth. Will appreciate this field tonight and can win also.
SAFRAKOVA raised her bat at Auckland last Friday. Wasn't a bad run either finishing sixth in a very strong and fast run race. If she leads or trails, she's a winning chance. Sean McCaffrey will make every post a winner.
GREY STOKE is on the fresh side tonight, he goes well in that state and he finds himself on the front tape tonight. He has one more photo in him.

Best Bet: Race 3 (7) Sarandon
Each Way Value: Race 10 (1) Safrakova
